The Seldoms, a Chicago-based dance and performance company, presents Monument, a new work inspired by a landfill that can be seen from space. The largest manmade object in the world is an "accidental monument." Through choreography, sound, and image, the Seldoms' new contemporary dance work considers the acts of preservation, creation, and destruction in balancing short term concerns with long-term prosperity and survival.

What: International textile, furniture, and art exhibition
When: Friday, April 11th (7pm to 11pm)
Where: 32nd & Urban (South Halsted at 32nd) in Chicago.
Artists and designers living and working in locations around the world including Pittsburgh, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Istanbul, Atlanta and Chicago will be showing work centered on the theme of how our objects relate to the natural world.
By meditating on form, system, or material and using parody, representation or analysis, these artists will create work that together makes a 'landscape' in the gallery, meant to invoke a sense of wonder, and remind us of our connectedness.

Live demonstration of re-potting and houseplant care tips from Master Gardener Judith Ramey. Purchasers of planters will receive a free plant! At 11 am and 2:30 pm, learn Filipino newspaper coil crafts with Susanne Donoghue. Sample fairly traded dried fruits from Colombia, a diversification scheme for shade-grown coffee farmers to make them less vulnerable to coffee price fluctuations.
