Brian Granahan

The Policy Pulse


Since 2007, Brian Granahan has served as staff attorney and clean energy advocate with Environment Illinois, a non-profit, citizen-based environmental advocacy group with nearly 20,000 members across Illinois. 

 

Brian’s work focuses on increasing the prevalence of energy efficiency and clean & renewable energy through state, federal, and local policy change. Most recently, Brian worked with Illinois state legislators in an effort to bring statewide residential energy efficient building codes to Illinois and to create energy efficiency standards for natural gas utilities. 

 

Prior to joining Environment Illinois, Brian was a research assistant with Professor Arthur R. Miller of Harvard Law School and an attorney in the intellectual property litigation group of the Chicago-based law firm Sidley Austin LLP, where he was winner of the 2004 Thomas H. Morsch Award for pro bono service. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Iowa and a Juris Doctor degree from New York University’s School of Law.

My super powers would be... the ability to fall asleep and spring awake on immediate demand. I don’t rest easily.


My grocery list has... chicken, onions, garlic, fresh corn tortillas, chili peppers of various stripes, and good beer.
